Vodafone India, one of the two license holders of Apple iPhone, has tied up with popular banks for providing the easy finance options to the customers, to boost the sales of the iconic phone in the country. Vodafone has tiedup with Barclays and Axis bank to provide the phone in easy 6 or 12 month installment schemes to help the customers who are suffering from the huge price tag. Vodafone is also in talks with ICICI bank and the agreement is expected to be signed in couple of days. The catch here is customer has to hold the credit cards of any of these banks to take part in the scheme. The interest rate on the EMI will be lesser than the industrial standard. Vodafone is planning to sell around 50 – 100 phones/day in the country.
Iconic phone, iPhone 3G was launched in the country in last week and due to overpricing, the response has been not upto the mark until now. To boost the sales, now the service providers have started working on different options and introducing EMI is one among the initiatives. Also there has been an unconfirmed news surrounding on the net, that Vodafone is also planning to slash the prices of the 2 models by Rs. 2000. Another license holder Bharti Airtel has decided to wait for sometime to read the sales opportunity in the country.
