BSNL Live Hello TV Service records 5 Lakhs mobile customers

State owned BSNL has announced that it has crossed the milestone of 5 lakhs mobile customers for its BSNL Help TV platform. This service was launched by Percept Knorigin on February 2010 for both 3G & non 3G users. BSNL’s focussed to make the service user friendly and cost effective for all users. The rapid growth has been a result of BSNL’s consistent focus on the fundamental elements of superior technology, content, service, reach and availability.

Recently, Hello TV offers 120+ live TV channels across BSNL Network on a paid basis with packs ranging from Rs.10, Rs.29 per month etc. Additionally, it supports a wide variety of regional, national channels and other popular channels such as Aaj Tak, B4U, Sun, Udaya, Gemini, Star News, Zoom, Times Now, UTV, CNN-IBN, ETV, TV9 etc. Similar to other mobile TV services, this will be available from native browser of phone thereby making its extent to all feature phones which will play streaming media and makes it feasible to 90% of the multimedia handsets in the market. Hello TV service is the default destination for GPRS users in BSNL. But the 3G users should make a video call to short code 51010 and access live TV service.

Viraj Malik, CEO and Managing Director reveals that the company is now engaged in the process of rolling out Live HelloTv services for data card and Ipad users. He further adds that BSNL has seen the data volumes grow many fold after the launch of multimedia services on the network which includes TV, movies, audio, video downloads etc., and their aim is to position BSNL as a premium and cost effective provider of services such as mobile TV, mass movies, create usage for our data services.
