What is a multitouch technology specially in iphones and tablets?

can anyone please tell me in details …what is a multitouch exactly means

    i dont know how the tech works but it means you can touch the screen in more than one place and it will recieve both inputs and you can zoom while touching the screen or play games which you need to touch two parts of the screen simultaneously.

    Multi touch technology used on touch screens allows the screen to detect and analyze more than just one touch on the screen at any given time. For example, on some phones, if you want to zoom in on a photo you can simply ‘pinch’ it with two fingers. Because of multi touch technology, the phone is able to detect both of the fingers on the screen, interpret the action they are doing, and then it performs what it is supposed to do when this action is detected. This technology works best on capacative screens. It allows for a more immersive user interface.
