IPhone vibration & text alert problem since updating to latest software. please help!! ?

I updated my iphone4 to the latest software (iOS) a few weeks back & ever since, when I receive a text it crashes my phone & the vibration goes mad! it’s like a stuck record.
when it’s on loud without vibration it does the same, kind of jumps about 10 times before playing the full alert.
it is driving me mad & I am going to end up breaking my phone if I don’t sort it. can somebody please help me? :( pretty please with a cherry on top :)

    Turn off your phone and switch it on again. Do this once every 2-3 days. It helps reset the phone. It helped solve a similar problem for me.
