Following the Google, Yahoo India introduced SMS search in india. The service, ‘oneSearch’, will enable mobile users to search for information over their mobile phones.The service is available through major operators including Airtel, Reliance Mobile, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, BPL Mobile, Aircel, Tata Indicom, and Spice Telecom. Users have to SMS their queries to Yahoo’s shortcode to make use of the service. All mobile users have to do is text their query to 58242 to receive oneSearch SMS (54664 for Google SMS Search) results for Local, Weather, Finance and News Clusters.

“By providing mobile consumers with instant answers for any search query via SMS, we are improving the mobile search experience and expanding our service to reach all mobile users in the country. There are over 208 million mobile users in the country who, on an average, send 8-10 SMSes every day,” Manish Dalal, senior director, mobile product, Yahoo! India, said. Yahoo! has also enhanced its existing OneSearch WAP product by introducing new content clusters, including local business listings, flight status information, and Yahoo! Answers content.
