Cisco-Teracom tops by clasping 8 circles of BSNL WiMax project franchisee

Cisco-Teracom gains the credit of implementing Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s WiMax broadband services in 8 circles of urban areas. Early Bsnl received bids from from five companies- Adishwar India, Ampoules, Teracom Limited, E-mall Infotech and Tech solutions Ltd for partnering with it.
Cisco has submitted its bid through Teracom for launching WiMax in 16 circlesthat covers Haryana, Uttar Pradesh East, Uttar Pradesh West, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, North East, Kolkata, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, J&K, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu- Chennai and West Bengal. And finally it made it by bagging 8 circles under its control.
Another bid from Take Solutions backed by Chinese manufacturer ZTE has emerged as the best offer in three circles and bids by companies backed by Israeli equipment maker Alvarion has offered the highest revenue share to BSNL in five circles.
Recently BSNL Wimax deal was pursued for Rs 435 crore by the Gemini Communications and its subsidiary PointRed Telecommunication. The bidders have offered to give between 10 per cent and 32 per cent of the revenue earned across various circles to BSNL.
BSNL already has a tie-up with US-headquartered Soma Networks, which runs WiMax services for the PSU in the circles of Gujarat, Maharashtra, including Goa and Andhra Pradesh. But it did not participate in bidding process.
