S Tel inaugurated GSM Services in Bihar by covering 3 regions

S Tel has commenced its operations in Bihar on December 24, 2009 at a function held in Patna. S-Tel is an Rs 14,000 crore company with an acquisition of Unified Access Services Licenses (UASL) and Spectrum to operate in six C circles.

S Tel is a joint venture company between Siva Group and Bahrain Telecommunication. The company is also exploring its participation in the forthcoming auction for 3G mobile spectrum. S-Tel had 51 percent of the share and the rest is vested with Batelco.

In the first phase, the S Tel GSM services would be available in Patna, Danapur, and Muzaffarpur regions and the rest will be covered shortly. S Tel is now rooted in following circles Bihar, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh, North East, Assam, and Jammu & Kashmir.

The company launched two tariff plans to charge the consumers at the rate of one paisa per second and 50 paisa per minute both for STD and local outgoing calls. Both the plans came with a special benefit of 60 minutes of free local calls per month for a period of three months.

It has also opened NTC units like insurance agencies, cable operators, courier services and village panchayats to make its products available at the doorstep of consumers.
