Mobile Portability Number(MNP) implementation gets delayed for 3 months
The regulation of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) may get delayed as some of the operators are not set to execute it. There may be a two or three month’s setback.
Department of Telecom (DoT) has convened a meeting with all mobile operators including Syniverse Technologies and MNP Interconnection Telecom Solution India on Thursday to review the subject.
It is decided that all the service providers and MNP operators has to update their readiness to implement MNP as soon as possible.MTNL and BSNl are not interested to offer this service
MNP acts as a catalyst and set to be introduced by December 31 in the metros and by March 2010 in the rest of the country. Mobile subscribers need to pay a maximum of just Rs 19 for availing the service. The process is to take four days.
