The hardware of this phone is OK, but the Windows Mobile phone OS disappoints, as it was really designed for use with an old-fashioned stylus pen, and not a finger touch screen. It is difficult to use applications on this phone, as many apps were designed for the stylus, as the OS came from the Pocket PC days.
In January, HTC will release a new phone called the Passion (it will be named the HTC Bravo in Europe). It is almost identical to the HD2, except that the HTC Passion / Bravo runs the Google Android operating system software. I think the HTC Passion / Bravo will be the much better handset.
Hi Parkash,
But Bravo will have 3.7” screen in comaprsion to HD2(4.3”)
Also hd2 wil be upgardable to windows mobile 7.
Thsi great HD2 beats iphone and every other phone in market till date.
is dis fone good at gaming lik iphone?!?!
and what about the messaging is it lik iphone i.e( single person conversation or chats )or lik ordinary mobile….lik multi-msgs in single screen..??!!??
pls..do temme
Yes, it has al #D capabilties like iphone.
Moreover it has 1GHz(1000 MHz) processor, iphone 3GS has 800MHz
Chat like messaging is there
Believe me its mucch much fintastic than iphone.
It is and will be big hit.
Thanks a lot……Vishal…………!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ur info is helpful….!!!
[...] The price is expected to be in the 35000-40000 Rupees range ($750 to $860) which is around the same as elsewhere in the world. Read more at Cellbharat here. [...]
Fantastic phone. i love it. way to go HTC. i think apple guys need to rethink about iphone pricing in india. when u can get a phone like this for 38k with some cool features paying around 30k for iphone is crap. wake up apple guys u lost the plot-wakeup!!!
hardware is excellent but unfortunately windows is decades behind iPhone OS or Android… I am sure Android on a similar hardware would be a killer… Waiting HTC!
actually the iphone 3gs has a 1 ghz processor too but its downclocked to 600mhz to stop it from overheating.
Having the most Gigahertz in the processor is less important in a phone than on a desktop computer. On a phone, battery life is critical. You don’t want a 2GHz processor if it causes your battery to last only half a day. Manufacturers must strike a balance between computing ability and battery life to make the handset useful.
I’m surprised the HTC HD2 is being released in India on Dec 15. The phone suffered supply problems in Britain, according to Vodafone, which has ceased to sell it. This may be related to the pink camera problem, which was reported earlier. Photos taken with the camera were pink in the centre.
I would prefer to choose a smartphone that runs an operating system platform that is expanding in popularity, than one that is shrinking and has a doubtful future. Like with a computer, you want to be able to buy lots of software. You want OS updates. Support. It has been widely reported that Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform is shrinking, with few software developers supporting it these days. Android is fast expanding, and has the advantage that the OS was designed for multi-touch from the ground up (unlike Windows Mobile which was designed for a stylus pen). We know that the handset manufacturers, like HTC, are phasing out Windows Mobile and switching to Android. There will be many Android phones coming out in January, from many manufacturers. I think it would be worth waiting for these Android handsets, rather than buying the Windows Mobile based HTC HD2.
I have a HTC HD2 on vodafone….soundz like i am one of only a few on voda with it then?
Camera and images are amazing… no pinking.
Phone is great…. definitely an issue with fingers versus stylus… but its ok, you get used to it.
Typing is slower than with real keys due to all the finger mis-spellings.
just dumped a load of vids from my PC onto it and its rocking… through the car soundsystem out the phones 3.5mm jack.
Just need a prog for the op sys that can play realplayer type .FLV files so i don’t have to convert them to lower quality file formats.
Any suggestions?
cool phone.
is it really worth buying this phone????
i mean is there any problem with this phone ???
pls pls pls reply….
To arnave (above).
The HTC HD2 will work. The main reported problem is the pink camera defect (Google the words: htc hd2 pink camera), but HTC has released a software fix which users must install themselves by transferring an exe file from a Windows computer to the phone, via a USB cable.
Most of the criticism is not of the phone hardware, but the operating system software that it runs: Windows Mobile. Some fans love Windows Mobile. However, the press has generally been scathing in its criticism. Windows Mobile will work. But the criticism is about the old fashioned interface, the lack of software compared to other platforms, and the speculation that Windows Mobile’s market share has been dropping so fast that it might be discontinued.
So, yes, the phone works. But there are other choices, with better interfaces. I’d recommend looking at Android phones from Motorola, HTC and Sony Ericsson.
@tankmaniac get Core Player.
38k for this phone is not worth it.
Get an iphone 3gs.
HD2 is windows mobile, will get dry after a week.
The apps on WM platform are boring.
(Mltitasking is shit,no one works on 2 apps at the same time, its frigging ridiculous.)
The only thing good about this set is HTC SENSE 2
No point having 1 gz processor.
All apps on the WM platform are quite basic. They hardly use 1/4 of the processor.
WM has been there for almost 7-8 yrs and yet no proper games
Apple has been only for 2 yrs and the gaming on it is absolutely fantastic.
I used to be an Apple-hater,
now I cant stay without it (Iv used WM phones for 4 yrs).
There is an app for everything on the iphone (Im a doc and everything I need on my fingertips)
The only disadvantage according to me is, no flash.
The music is great.
The movies are great
The apps are great
The games are great.
So please dont waste your money on WM phones (maybe until WM7 which might change things around)
ya i too loved d phone n htc hero has become my hero now! d mobile experience is just gr8!
I would be happier it it had a slide out keyboard, I’ll stick to my xperia untill someone releases one with a keyboard.
i like design of this phone..
