Skype video calls now in Nokia phones

Posted at November 25th, 2009 under Mobile Companies, Nokia | 1 Comment »

Fring is a voice over IP service provider and it has just brought the video calls to a horde of Nokia phones. It allows the “Fringsters” to conduct free live chat with each other, or with their Skype contacts, via their phone’s 3G or Wi-Fi connection.

fring-150x150Fring comes with an embedded fring app, which already allows free VoIP calls to Fring, Skype and GTalk users. The Fring update is the first ever video chat offered via IP service ever – is currently available to anyone with a Nokia X6, Nokia N97 Mini, Nokia N97, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia N95 8GB and Nokia N95.

Fring plans to expand its service in future by offering Skype-friend video chat service to phones other than the Nokia handsets listed above, but as the existing VoIP app is available for other Symbian S60 phones, as well as iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, J2ME and Linux devices, video chat could well be expanding its base in the coming months.
