Motorola Droid: pre-release turns up on e-bay

Droid prototype that just turned up on eBay, which has a reasonably good chance of being an authentic Droid, and a slight chance of being an actual prototype. The seller describes it as a pre-release version — one of five handsets that were intended for Motorola engineers.

Apparently the phone is in perfect working order, runs Android 2.0 (Eclair), and is ready to activate. The product will glitters with a chrome bezel, not a black one, silver buttons instead of gold and ‘enhanced LED lighting’ on the front-facing buttons.

• It is a slider phone with a cellular brand of CDMA2000 1X 1900/800.
• It also features Calendar, Internet Browser, QWERTY Keyboard, Speakerphone, and GPS.
• Droid weighs 169g and has wireless interface Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g.
• It is aided with Lithium ion – 1400 mAh and supports voice dialing.
The product is new never opened and the bidding starts at $485.
