The latest in mobile communication technology, 3G arrived in the city on Friday. 3G services are already available in Delhi and Mumbai besides 240 other northern and eastern towns and cities. But Chennai is the first city in south India to get this awe-inspiring technology.

This flair enables us to see the person on other side that we are talking. It also offers Broadband connectivity, mobile TV (showcases 24 channels), faster video downloads, full track music downloads and online gaming. It permits us to monitor remote locations across the globe. This is achieved through a pre-fixed camera affixed to Network Attached Storage Recording solution.
The 3G sim cards and the 3G data cards that offer high-speed Internet access for computer users on the move were also launched.
The BSNL unveiled a special promotional offer to draw about 1.5 lakh customers in the next 45-50 days. Some of the tit-bits of the plan is,
• Local audio and video calls are pegged at 30 paise (in place of 90 paise and Rs.1.50 respectively) and a national video call at 50 paise per minute.
• It bids fifty minutes free local video call and 25 MB free data usage.
• All new 3G pre-paid and post paid connections are activated up to December 31.
BSNL also focuses to improve its 2G connections by launching 1,000 more base stations to address the complaints of poor services. It is expected that the service will be extended to other states within a span two-three months.
