Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited has launched its prepaid broadband service in Mumbai. By this venture it expects to add 2 million broadband connections by the end of 2010.MTNL prepaid Broadband connections sparkles with two plans.

The detailed version of this plan is as follows,

• Two plans, under this scheme with a charge of Rs 5,999 and Rs 3,999 respectively.
• Both the plan covers a period of one year validity.

• Similarly, 15GB free download is handy under Rs 3,999 plan.
• MTNL plans to proffer a monthly plan for prepaid broadband service beginning from November 20.

MTNL expects a 60 per cent growth in broadband connections in Mumbai when the new scheme gets implemented. Currently, MTNL account for over 90 per cent of the total market in Delhi and Mumbai and it adds Rs 450 crore per annum.

MTNL is always outfitted with latest technology to perk up its Broadband services. Some of them are ADSL 2+, IPTV and VoIP services. At present, the company has 4.4 million mobile subscribers and is adding 600 more subscribers every day.

In the last financial year, MTNL earned Rs 850 crore revenue from the prepaid-broadband segment but it do not expect the same this year as the 3G service will not earn much this year. MTNL has to combat with its opponents to sustain its growth as BSNL had launched a similar scheme a month back.
