Black Berry App world tunes to grab VAS market in India
Research In Motion (RIM) has opened its BlackBerry App store in India. RIM launched BlackBerry app globally on the second quarter of this year but it rejuvenated itself with few modifications. As a part of its expansion in India RIM has also sketched to become the realm of VAS market in India.
The BlackBerry Smartphone users can directly download free applications and enterprise applications directly on to their handsets by visiting www.blackberry.com/appworld in the mobile web browser. But an active data service connection is required to download the BlackBerry App World. Data charges will be applicable on downloading the App.
Few contents are based on Indian markets they are Hungama MyPlay, CNBC TV18 Moneycontrol, Mundu Radio and Arromatics. Some of its features are,
• Front page showcases the range of applications on offer, Top Downloads, Categories, Search/Filter, Reviews, Recommend, Application Archiving, Application Storage and Update Notifications.
• Application Storage is easy and it includes a folder called My World. This folder acts as personal storage and keeps a track of apps downloaded. Application archiving feature allows users to archive their apps on their phone’s built-in memory or a microSD memory card.
• The applications can be used over the mobile network, Wi-Fi and runs compatibly with BlackBerry OS 4.2 version.
• It has a track ball, touch sensitive keypad and screen. But the users need to have an active BlackBerry data service plan.
Thus RIM has joined its rivals such as Apple and Nokia by establishing the App stores worldwide.
