The Music Store from Nokia through on line in the Indian air is in the instant offing and the site has been put to test. The official launch would be effected during the second half of the year. The music download is subjected to the purchase voucher provided to the customers at the time of buying handsets and other equipment from Nokia. Aftermath, the online payment mode will be made through a fixed mechanism, which would come into effect once the pact with HCL Infosystems materialises. (the pact is in mandatory under the Indian online payment scheme from a foreign firm). The pact with HCL Infosystems carries, along with online payment, other value-added services like navigation, music and entertainments. Nokia is one among the companies offering online music download and Nokia has signed agreements with so many music companies in particular, in its beta site – T-Music, Times Music and Universal Music India. The ultimate motif behind this segment is the “promotion of legal music” through mobile phones. Technologically, Nokia has the utility of Microsoft DRM (digital rights management)
