[FirstLook] HTC Magic – HTC Magical moments with Airtel
The Indian consumers now get a new couple in the mobile sector with HTC making a commercial tie-up with Bharti Airtel to deal its HTC Magic. The smartphone, priced at Rs.36000, is backed up by Google’s Android OS and will execute the services covered under 2G. The deal between HTC and Airtel to market this HTC Magic Android features many elements- at the first six month behest the consumers can avail this smartphone from Airtel irrespective of the network options. It is to be remembered that HTC has in hand Vodafone to deal its 1G and G2 in major segments of Europe besides other slots.
To be brief, the smartphone is the follow up to Google Phone G1 and is sleek but the keyboard is missing. The smartphone HTC Magic has- a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display aided by 320 x 480 resolution, and it weighs 116 gms (including battery), an onscreen keyboard, measures 11.3 x 5.6 x 13.6cm, to enable scrolling screens, there is a trackball coupled with Enter button, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mini USB and GPS; there is an accelerometer and a sensor, an MP3 player compatible to AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, MP3, WAV and MIDI; also featuring Google Apps with search, Gmail, GTalk and Google calendar, downloading facilities from App Store (available under pay and free scheme.
HTC Magic has to its credit, a 3.2 megapixel with Auto Focus, but without Flash; support to video formats of MP4 and
3GP (a common feature in any other Android range); feasibility to transfer the videos direct to You Tube or sharing through email or MMS. HTC Magic possesses HSDPA connectivity at 7.2kbps speed; the smartphone features an internal GPS antenna and a GPRS with a speed of 32-48kbps. The phone has the support to Quad Band GSM Networks and Dual Band 3G.
The phone is displayed with a rechargeable battery (Li-ion) with 1340 mAh enabling talktime of 240 minutes and a standby time of 120 hrs. The phone gets the efficiency of 512 MB ROM and 288 MB RAM. To encourage the selling Airtel allows free downloading of 100MB/month for six months. Other exclusive offers for the Airtel customers are Portfolio Manager, Hello Tune Manager, Weather Channel, Mobshare, In-mobile search and City Search.

Rs. 36,000 is too expensive for this phone….. should be around 26k….

Is it available for sale anywhere ? I can not find it in HTC stores or mobilestores.
Though from press release, it seems that it will be available across india from 23 june onwards.
What a discrepancy !!!!!
