By the end of this year, BSNL targets to get into the one million mark enabled with advanced generation switches technology. Within 2015, it is estimated, all the current switches will be facelifted with this new technology in terms with the global mode. The motive behind going for this technology is apparent that it will offer convergence of voice, video, multimedia content and data services in addition to messaging and location mail services.

In a move to outsource this technology, BSNL has called for bids and so far it has received six bids and the process is on for finalizing them. By next three months southern states in India will receive the 3G services so that 750 cities will come under this. By 2010 more than 5 lakh poles are to be erected in a primary job of fibre-to-home technology which will increase the speed of the broadband and internet services.
