20 million Broadband subscribers by 2010 – BSNL

Bsnl has set a target of 20 million broadband customers by 2010. On the process of achieving this, BSNL set to call bids for 8 million DSL modems. Nokia, Lucent, Alactel, Siemens, Ericson, ZTE are the expected players who would bid for.
BSNL wants the modem with technical feasibility for providing services IPTV, Video On Demand, Internet Telephony. However, the technical aspects of tender will be decided after consulting Chip manufacturers for recent developments in DSL technology.
